Windows Server 2019 Standard, Lifetime License
Windows Server 2019 Standard: proven stability
Windows Server 2019 Standard is one of the most widely deployed server versions in businesses of all sizes. After years in production it is considered extremely stable and is certified for the vast majority of business software, from accounting and ERP to SQL Server databases. The installation is in English.
Key features
- Windows Admin Center: manage the server from your browser, without a remote session.
- Storage Migration Service: move files and shares from old servers in a few steps.
- System Insights: predicts capacity problems before they happen.
- Storage Replica in limited form, for replicating one volume to a second server.
- Windows and Linux containers, plus Kubernetes support.
What it covers
The physical server plus up to two Windows Server virtual machines, when all cores are covered.
Per-core licensing
The Standard and Datacenter editions are licensed per physical processor core, with a minimum of 8 cores per processor and 16 cores per server. The base 16-core license covers most small and medium business servers. If your server has more physical cores, additional licenses are needed to cover them all. If you are unsure, ask us before you buy.
Support
Windows Server 2019 receives security updates until January 2029. It is a good choice when matching existing 2019 infrastructure or when an application is certified only for this version. For a new installation with a longer horizon, see Windows Server 2022 and 2025.
Installation and activation
- After payment you receive the product key by email.
- Install the server from an official Microsoft ISO image, on physical hardware or a virtual machine.
- Enter the key during setup or later in the activation settings.
If you have already installed the Evaluation edition, convert it to the full version without reinstalling, from an elevated command prompt:
DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula
Under Microsoft terms, each user or device accessing the server also needs a Windows Server access license (CAL), in addition to RDS CALs where Remote Desktop Services are used.
