Windows Server 2025 RDS, 50 User CAL, Lifetime License
Windows Server 2025 RDS CAL for 50 users
Remote Desktop Services (RDS) let users connect to the server and work in applications running on it, such as accounting software, ERP or Office, as if they were installed on their own computer. For each such connection Microsoft requires a Remote Desktop Services access license (RDS CAL). This pack includes licenses for 50 users.
Why per-user CALs
With per-user RDS CALs (User CALs), the license follows the person, not the computer. The same user can connect from their office desktop, laptop at home, tablet or phone and always uses one license. It is the best choice for businesses where staff work from several devices or remotely.
Version compatibility
- 2025 RDS CALs cover RD Session Host servers running Windows Server 2025 and earlier versions.
- The license server (RD Licensing) must run Windows Server 2025 or later.
- You cannot mix per-user and per-device CALs on the same server: the licensing mode is set in the RD Session Host configuration.
Delivery and activation
- After payment you receive the license code by email.
- On the license server, open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager, activate the server (if not already activated) and choose Install Licenses.
- Enter the code and select the license type (Per User).
- In the RD Session Host configuration, set the licensing mode to Per User and point it to the license server.
Frequently asked questions
Do administrators need RDS CALs?
No. Up to two simultaneous connections for server administration are allowed without RDS CALs.
Is there a grace period?
Yes. After enabling the RD Session Host role there is a 120-day grace period in which the licenses must be installed.
Under Microsoft terms, each user or device accessing the server also needs a Windows Server access license (CAL), in addition to RDS CALs where Remote Desktop Services are used.
